Toronto Yoga Mamas

Toronto Fitness Review

Our first review is the Toronto Yoga Mamas! Since pregnancy, we have been attending the yoga, barre and pilates classes that this location offers and now we take our littles with us to their babies & crawlers classes— and we absolutely love it!

Other services offered:

  • Wellness Appointments: RMT, Acupuncture, Chiropractor, Pelvic Floor Therapy, Physiotherapy
  • Pre-Natal Classes for Parents
  • CPR/First Aid Training for Parents
  • Doula Training
  • Doula Services
  • Yoga Training for Instructors
  • Mom Events

Toronto Yoga Mamas is located in the east end on Queen Street East.  Getting there is pretty simple, you can take the Queen streetcar and get off at Greenwood Ave and walk about 2 mins or you can drive.  There is no parking available so you will need to pay at the Green P stations located on the north and south side of Queen Street.  Just a little tip—if you get there early enough, then you can grab a FREE parking spot on Vancouver Avenue between 10am-4pm, located just east of the studio.

Stroller Accessibility: 5

There is a Stroller Parking area outside of the studio.  Please note that this studio is located in a basement level, so there are about 5-6 steps to get inside.  Typically, I just park my car and carry my car seat  inside as there is more than enough space in the studio to store it during the classes.  However, if you are walking or happen to park farther than you liked, you can bring your stroller to the door and park it outside.  Please note, this is not a covered area so when it rains or snows, your stroller will be exposed to all the elements.

Environment: 5

The space and staff at this studio is just fantastic! The staff go out of their way to make sure that you are comfortable and really understand prenatal and postnatal care for moms.  I’ve had staff go out of their way to even watch Felipa so that I could use the bathroom alone (I know..such a foreign concept for a mom!) The space is clean, modern and has a relaxed vibe.  My only negative comment is that there is a staircase to get up to the actual yoga studios, so it’s a bit of a pain when carrying the carseat up with the baby.

There is also a retail space where you can purchase a lot of great baby gear, products for your home and self and did I mention—mostly Canadian made and local brands!

Amenities: 5

The amenities at this studio are unreal! For all classes, you only need to bring yourself and your baby—all yoga mats and supplies are provided by them.  They have a separate room that has a change table, newborn diapers, wipes and rash cream.  There is also a bench in that room in case you would like some privacy to breastfeed—not to worry though, breastfeeding is very much acceptable in any of the common areas as well.  For moms with babies that are starting to sit up or need toys to keep them occupied during class, there are plenty of toys and accessories for you to use during class time as well.  The washrooms are located on the first and second floor, however note that there are no change rooms in this facility.  One feature that I love is their FREE “library”—they have a wall of books that you are able to sign out at the front desk and then return once you are finished.  There is an amazing selection on pre-natal, fertility, baby name, parenting and many more titles for you to choose from!

Food and Drinks: 5

You have access to free David’s Tea and lemon water during your visit to the studio.  If you sign up for their mom groups then they always have a nice selection of fruit and healthy snacks for you to enjoy during the classes.

Price Point: 5

The price point is on par with other studios in Toronto with single drop in classes coming in at $24.  They also have packages that you can purchase, like the 10 class pass at $189 or the Mama Pass at $108/month.  The monthly and yearly passes also have benefits of unlimited classes and 10% off their retail, education, events and workshops.  The wellness services are also very reasonably priced and comparable to other local studios. They accept all forms of payments.

Overall Rating: 4.5

We have been attending Toronto Yoga Mamas for almost a year now! From their yoga classes to the wellness services we have yet to be disappointed.  The staff are impeccable with their service, the facility is clean and welcoming and the location is great for east-enders.  Our only hiccup?! — the schedule of classes! For moms with non-mobile babies (approx 6 weeks to 9 months), then this is a great spot for you as they have so many options to choose from in their “Babies Classes”.  However, once your little one is on the move, well then there aren’t as many classes to choose from in their “Crawlers Classes” (approx 9 months to 2 years old).  The fitness classes themselves are perfect for prenatal and postpartum mamas as they focus on prenatal care & postpartum recovery.  If you are looking for challenging and more advanced yoga classes, then this may not be the studio for you.  Overall, we love the vibe of Toronto Yoga Mamas and recommend it for moms looking to get out of their house, meet some other moms and get fit!  If you get a chance to check them out then let us know what you thought in the comments!
